Terms of Service
Plain language, no fine-print games: what I do, what it costs, how cancelling works, and what I am and am not responsible for. If anything here is unclear, ask me before you book.
Effective date: October 3, 2026
Who you're dealing with
423Code is an independent mobile automotive electronics service in Chattanooga, TN, run by Travis. I come to you with my own professional equipment. I am not a dealership, and I am not affiliated with, authorized by or endorsed by any vehicle manufacturer.
What I do — and what I don't
Electronic work: diagnostics (fault codes and live data), feature coding, resets, relearns and calibrations on supported vehicles, plus a written report of what I find. It is all electronic — the work the vehicle's own computers will accept.
I don't do mechanical repair. No engine or transmission work, no oil changes, no brakes, no suspension parts — nothing that needs a lift and a wrench. A diagnostic can point you at a problem; it is not a substitute for a mechanic's inspection, and it is not a promise that replacing a part will fix a symptom.
Every function is vehicle-specific. Not every function is available on every year, make or model, and what the vehicle will accept depends on how it's built and equipped. Compatibility is verified before the appointment whenever that's possible.
Booking and the compatibility check
Online booking picks a service and an open time. Nothing is final until I've verified your vehicle and the requested service — compatibility varies by year, make and model. If it turns out the work isn't supported on your vehicle, I'll tell you before the appointment and there is nothing to pay.
If you're not sure what you need, send a Check My Vehicle request or ask for a quote instead — that's the normal path, and it's free. Appointment times are Chattanooga (Eastern) time, and the appointment is at the service address you give me.
Cancellation and rescheduling
The policy that applies is the current one in my settings, shown here word for word — the same text that goes out with your appointment confirmation:
Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment and there's no charge. With less than 24 hours' notice a $35 travel fee applies. Same-day no-shows are charged the travel fee. We'll confirm your vehicle and service before the appointment.
Cancelling or moving an appointment is one call or text — (423) 401-0218. Tell me as early as you can, and I'll give you the same courtesy if I ever have to move your time.
Pricing and payment
The prices shown with each service are starting prices from the catalog. I confirm the price with you after verifying your vehicle, and anything extra I find is quoted before I do it.
Payment is due at the appointment: cash, card, Venmo, Zelle or Cash App. If I send you a payment link, it is created from the amount we agreed and works as a normal card checkout — the card is processed by the payment provider, and I never see or store your card number. This website itself never takes a payment.
Travel fees
The first 10 miles are free. Past that, travel is charged in 10-mile bands — +$10 for the first band beyond 10 miles, +$20 for the next, +$30 beyond that. Past 40 miles it's a custom quote, and you'll have that quote before anything is booked.
What I'm responsible for
If a supported function doesn't take on a vehicle where it should, tell me — I'll re-check it and redo that work at no charge. Beyond that I don't promise a particular outcome: diagnostics report what the vehicle's computers say, and those findings can change once parts are replaced or the vehicle is driven more. I can't guarantee that a specific repair will fix a problem.
Make and model names (Ford, RAM, Jeep, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen Group and others) appear on this site only to describe what I work on. No manufacturer or dealership sponsors, authorizes or endorses this service.
If something goes wrong, my responsibility for a service is limited to what you paid for that service, and I'm not responsible for indirect losses — a missed day of work, towing, storage, a rental car, or repair work someone else did. Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under Tennessee law.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, I'll update this page and the effective date at the top. The version posted when you book is the one that applies to that appointment.
