Questions people ask before they book
Short answers to the questions I get most, all of them taken from what this site already says. If yours is not here, call or text and ask me directly.
How it works
- What does 423Code do?
- Mobile automotive electronics in Chattanooga, TN. I come to your home, your work or wherever the vehicle is parked and do electronic diagnostics and the digital scan report, feature coding and module configuration, resets and relearns, key programming, and pre-purchase electronic inspections. No mechanical repair, no engine or transmission work, no oil changes and no brake jobs.
- Do you come to me?
- Yes. I bring the scanner and the tools to your driveway, your office car park or the side of the road. No shop, no tow, no waiting room, and the vehicle stays with you the whole time.
- What does the scan include?
- I connect the professional XTOOL D7BT scanner on site and scan every module your vehicle's network contains: engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, body control, instrument cluster, HVAC and TPMS. The scanner writes its own PDF report, and I email it to you as the machine wrote it.
- Does the scan include an explanation of the codes?
- No. The $59 Full-System Scan + Digital Report is the scan and the scanner's own PDF, emailed to you as-is. Putting those codes into plain English, saying which ones actually matter and what the next step is, is the Code Interpretation & Next Steps add-on at $40, on the same visit.
- Is the business insured?
- Professionally insured through THREE by Berkshire Hathaway.
Pricing and what is included
- How much does a diagnostic cost?
- It depends which one you want. The Basic OBD-II Scan is $39: engine codes and their definitions only, no report. The Full-System Scan + Digital Report is $59 and covers every module your vehicle exposes, with the scanner's PDF emailed to you. If the scan shows a fault but not its cause, that is Pinpoint / Electrical Diagnosis, quoted after the scan at from $75/hr.
- What if the scan finds nothing?
- Then the Full-System Scan is free. Free if nothing found means no fault codes were found in the scan. It is the one guarantee I publish, and I keep it.
Travel and service area
- Which areas do you cover?
- Mobile service in Chattanooga and the towns around it: Chattanooga, Hixson, Red Bank, East Ridge, Ooltewah, Soddy-Daisy, Brainerd. If you are not sure whether your address is inside that, send me the town and I will tell you before you book.
- Is there a travel fee?
- No travel fee within 10 miles of Chattanooga. Beyond 10 miles, a travel fee applies at $2 per round-trip mile, quoted up front before booking. Anything over 30 miles is outside our service area.
