A TPMS relearn teaches the vehicle the sensor IDs of the wheels it is actually running, so the tire pressure system reports the right corner. It is often what is needed after a rotation, a sensor change or a set of new wheels. On supported vehicles I check the sensors and the support first, because a dead sensor is a hardware job and no relearn will bring it back.

The tire pressure system works from a sensor in each wheel, and the vehicle has to know which sensor belongs to which corner. Rotate the tires, change a sensor or fit a different set of wheels and that mapping is wrong, so the light comes on or reports the wrong tire.

A relearn puts the mapping right. On supported vehicles I teach the vehicle the sensor IDs of the wheels it is actually running, at your location.

The starting price is on this page because the job depends on the vehicle and on the sensors. Some relearn from the driver's seat, some need a tool at each wheel, and a dead sensor is a hardware job that no relearn can fix. I check the sensors first and tell you which of those you are in.

What this addresses

Compatibility

TPMS relearn is offered on supported vehicles only. The procedure differs by year, make and model, and it depends on the sensors fitted still working and being a type the vehicle can learn. I check both before you spend anything. A failed sensor, or a set the vehicle cannot learn, is a hardware job and not a relearn.

How mobile service works

  1. 1Tell me your year, make, model, engine — and what your car is doing (or what feature you want changed).
  2. 2I verify your vehicle and confirm the service is supported before you spend anything — compatibility varies by year, make and model.
  3. 3I confirm the price with you before I head out. Prices are starting prices. No travel fee within 10 miles of Chattanooga. Beyond 10 miles, a travel fee applies at $2 per round-trip mile, quoted up front before booking. Anything over 30 miles is outside our service area.
  4. 4I come to you — your home, your office, your driveway. No waiting room, no dealership lane.
  5. 5I work with professional equipment, report what I find, and deliver — a diagnostic report, a reset, a feature unlocked.

Common questions

Is a relearn a repair?

No. It re-teaches the vehicle which sensor is in which wheel. If a sensor is dead, or a wheel has no sensor at all, no relearn will fix that.

Why does the price start where it does?

Because how the relearn is done differs by vehicle, and some need a tool at each wheel. The starting price is on this page. I verify your vehicle and your sensors, then confirm the price before I come out.

My light is on but the pressures are fine. Is this it?

Possibly, and possibly not. A relearn fixes a mapping problem. A light can also be a failing sensor or a system fault, so I read the system first and tell you which one you have.

Can you fit new sensors?

No. I do the electronic side. Fitting a sensor is a tire shop job, and I tell you what to have fitted so the vehicle can learn it.

Prices are starting prices, not guarantees. Final pricing can depend on vehicle, location, diagnostic complexity and requested procedure. This is an electronic diagnostics, coding and reset service — not mechanical repair. Diagnostics identify electronic faults but do not guarantee that a specific mechanical repair will resolve a problem. No dealership or manufacturer affiliation.
