Quote first. The range I quote within is on this page. I verify your vehicle and the module, then confirm the exact price with you before work starts.
Resetting a module and teaching it its values again on supported vehicles: learned adaptations or a stored state are cleared, then the relearn the module needs to work with the vehicle is run. Common after a battery or component change, or when a module is behaving as though it still has the old part fitted. Year, make and model are verified first, and the price is confirmed with you before work starts.
Modules learn. An engine, transmission, steering or body module builds up adapted values from the way the vehicle actually runs, and sometimes those values need to be cleared so the module can learn the vehicle it is in now.
On supported vehicles I reset the module and run the relearn it needs, through the OBD port, at your location. That is usually what is wanted after a battery change or a component change, or when a module is behaving as though the old part is still fitted.
This is quote first work: your vehicle and the module are verified before anything is reset, and the price is confirmed with you before work starts. A reset does not repair a faulty part, and if the fault turns out to be physical I tell you rather than run a relearn that cannot help.
What this addresses
- Odd running or shift behaviour after a battery or component change
- A module behaving as though the old part is still fitted
- A relearn a repair shop told you was needed after their work
- Adapted values you want cleared on a supported vehicle
- You want to know whether a reset is what your vehicle actually needs
Compatibility
Module reset and relearn are offered on supported vehicles only. Which module can be reset, and which relearn it needs afterwards, varies by year, make and model. I verify yours before quoting, and if a reset is not the right answer I tell you what is.
How mobile service works
- 1Tell me your year, make, model, engine — and what your car is doing (or what feature you want changed).
- 2I verify your vehicle and confirm the service is supported before you spend anything — compatibility varies by year, make and model.
- 3I confirm the price with you before I head out. Prices are starting prices. No travel fee within 10 miles of Chattanooga. Beyond 10 miles, a travel fee applies at $2 per round-trip mile, quoted up front before booking. Anything over 30 miles is outside our service area.
- 4I come to you — your home, your office, your driveway. No waiting room, no dealership lane.
- 5I work with professional equipment, report what I find, and deliver — a diagnostic report, a reset, a feature unlocked.
Common questions
Why is the price a range?
Because the time depends on the vehicle and on the module involved. The range I quote within is on this page. I verify yours, then confirm the exact price with you before work starts.
Is a reset the same as a repair?
No. A reset clears learned values and starts the module learning again. It cannot fix a worn or failed part, and it is not a way to make a fault disappear.
Will the vehicle drive normally straight afterwards?
On supported vehicles the relearn is run before I leave and I check what the vehicle reports. Some modules want a drive cycle before they settle, and I tell you what to expect rather than promise the job is finished.
Do you clear fault codes?
A reset is not a code clearing. If codes have come up, the honest first step is to read them, which is a scan. Clearing a code without dealing with the cause usually just brings the light back.

Prices are starting prices, not guarantees. Final pricing can depend on vehicle, location, diagnostic complexity and requested procedure. This is an electronic diagnostics, coding and reset service — not mechanical repair. Diagnostics identify electronic faults but do not guarantee that a specific mechanical repair will resolve a problem. No dealership or manufacturer affiliation.
