A basic OBD-II scan reads the codes your engine module has stored and gives you the numbers and their definitions — engine codes only, no report.
It's the fastest way to find out what your warning light is actually reporting, and whether it needs a deeper look. If the vehicle calls for more than a basic scan, I'll tell you before you pay for more.

Compatibility
Every vehicle with an OBD-II port can be scanned, but the codes and the data available vary by year, make and model. A scan identifies electronic faults — it doesn't guarantee that a mechanical repair will resolve them.

- 3I confirm the price with you before I head out. Prices are starting prices. No travel fee within 10 miles of Chattanooga. Beyond 10 miles, a travel fee applies at $2 per round-trip mile, quoted up front before booking. Anything over 30 miles is outside our service area.
- 4I come to you — your home, your office, your driveway. No waiting room, no dealership lane.
- 5I work with professional equipment, report what I find, and deliver — a diagnostic report, a reset, a feature unlocked.
Common questions
Is this the same as the free scan at a parts store?
It's a professional scan with proper equipment — you get the code numbers and what each one is defined as, plus an honest read on whether you need a deeper scan. If you want the codes explained in plain English and a next step, that's the Code Interpretation & Next Steps add-on, $40.
Will you clear my codes?
Not as part of a basic scan — clearing a light without fixing the cause usually just brings it back. If a reset is genuinely appropriate — for example after a completed repair — that's separate work, and I'll tell you before I do it.
What if you find more than a basic scan can cover?
Then I'll tell you and recommend the Full-System Scan + Digital Report instead, which reads every accessible module and emails you the scanner's PDF report.
